The training process is extremely important for moderators, new and returning. This process is different for every trainee and some may find things more difficult to grasp than others. As a trainer, patience is key and you must be prepared to run through things as many times as the trainee needs. The goal for the first session is for the trainee to be confident with their basic in-game commands and be able to handle the most common tasks as a moderator.

Scheduling Training

When scheduling training with the trainee, it is ideal to have a slot where the trainee, an admin and either the President or Vice-President are available. Training can take anywhere from 30 mins to an 1h and 30 mins depending on the trainee. It is important to make the trainee aware of how long training could take so their scheduled session is not cut short.

Before Training Begins

You must open your three required documents: The Staff Handbook, Session 1, Training Feedback. On the ‘Training Feedback’ sheet, fill in the details of the trainee (See Training Feedback for further information). All staff training must be done in the ‘Staff Training Room’ voice channel. Make the trainee aware that speaking is not required but is highly recommended. This voice channel will be accompanied by a thread in the #staff-training channel with the name of the trainee and their session. EG. ‘DoogiePC - Session 1’.

Part One: The Basics

In this section, the trainee will be taught about the commands outside of punishments.
Refer to slides 9 and 10 of the Staff Handbook.
After an explanation of each command we will move onto the scenarios.

Scenario One

State the following to the trainee: You have a question you want to ask another member of staff. You are unsure if any staff members are online.How do you: (A) Check online staff (B) communicate with them privately. Ideal answer: (A) Use /staff to see the list of online staff members (B) Use /staffchat or /sc to chat privately with staff

Scenario Two

State the following to the trainee: You need to teleport to a player but they have their tp disabled. How do you teleport to them? Ideal answer: Use /tpo [user] to force teleport to them

Rerun through any commands that the trainee is finding difficult as many times as needed.
This is your area for a trainee’s questions to be asked before moving onto Part Two.

Scenario Three

State the following to the trainee: You sense a player is doing something suspicious and want to check it out. How do you go about this without the targeted player knowing? Ideal answer: Use /vanish or /vanish enable. Then, use /tpo [user].
