SEC1 Introduction

Welcome to the CosmicX Staff Team!

If you have been sent this link by one of our staff then your application has been reviewed and you have been seen fit for the position of moderator. After your first training session, you should receive this handbook. In this handbook, you will find all you will need as a staff member! Being a moderator is tough work and we understand if you don’t always know what to do, especially as a newbie. This handbook will guide you through your first few days, weeks or even months! Still unsure? Ask an admin, the president, or the vice president for help!

SEC2 Staff Standards & Rules

As a staff member, you are a direct representation of the server.

We ask that everyone conducts themselves in a respectful way – to both players and other staff. If you portray yourself in the best light possible it reflects well on not only the team but yourself as well.

ALL STAFF MEMBERS MUST POSSESS THE 3 A’S.

Abuse
Abuse of any kind is not allowed, and can earn you a demotion from your rank. An example would be false muting / banning a player you don’t like. Abuse can also mean not holding your friends accountable. If you are aware of any rule breaking and do not act accordingly just as you would with any other player.

Unprofessionalism
Arguing, fighting, or verbally abusing another player or staff member is not allowed. You help represent the integrity of the server, so we ask that you try to be nice and helpful in all situations. If somebody is attempting to start an argument with you or is berating you in chat, don’t respond with something rude of condescending, and do not act by emotion, be logical, take your time, and be the bigger person.

Activity
We understand that sometimes you have to be away for long periods of time. We do, however, expect you have a minimum of 7 hours per week. Report any 3 or more day absence in the channel on Discord. If we find that you are frequently dipping below these hours without notice, or as we like to call it, going red, you may be asked politely to become active again. If you fail to meet this requirement for two consecutive weeks without notice, it may result in a demotion to the rank below. Being offline for 7 or more days without notice will result in a removal from the team.

Resignation

We also understand that life gets busy and circumstances can change. If you need to resign from your position on the staff team, we ask you follow the guidelines below.

  • Trial Moderators: Please give at least 1 week notice of your resignation.
  • Moderators Please give at least 2 weeks notice of your resignation.

We appreciate receiving a notice period as it helps us plan for possible replacement and ensure a smooth transition. If you are unable to provide the required notice, please let us know as soon as possible. To resign, please send a message to the Admin of Staff or President. In your resignation message, please include the following information:

  • Your full username on the server
  • Your staff position on the server
  • The reason for your resignation (optional, but recommended)
  • The date of your last day as a staff member

Please note that you will be expected to complete any outstanding duties and responsibilities until your last day as a staff member.

Confidentiality
We ask that anything that happens in staff channels, in-game staff chat, or spy messages be kept private and out of the eyes of regular players.

Being Overwhelmed
Don’t be afraid to ask for help. You can ask an admin if you are unsure what to do. It is better to take your time then acting irrationally.

All punishments are to be given using the /punish command.

How does /punish work?
Step 1 Staff member sees a rule being broken and identify what it is, for this
example we will use excessive swearing and Notch as the rule breaker.
Step 2 Staff member does /punish Notch excessive swearing
Step 3 The punish system takes the key words "excessive" and "swearing"
and looks them up in the rules database.
Step 4 The punish system finds that "excessive" and "swearing" match rule 1a the most.
(Steps 1-3 are skipped if you just enter the rule ID)
Step 5 The punish system matches what punishment matches rule 1a e.g a mute or ban.
Step 6 If the player has already had a punishment on this particular punishment type,
their punishment will start higher than if they have never been punished before.
Step 7 The punish system punishes the player for the designated time period.

You can find the CosmicX rules by typing /rules (page) or by using /punishid while in game, or click the button below.

SEC5 Grief Protocols

DETERMINE THE PLAYER

/co inspect

This command toggles your left/right click to show which player has placed/broken the griefed blocks. It also provides information on items being removed/added to a chest.

As a moderator, you are not qualified to punish for griefs.
Do not report a grief unless the owner of the build reports it to you.
You must report to an Admin+ and they will take the following protocols.
Encourage the player to make a ticket on the discord.

GRIEF COMMANDS

/co lookup [radius:max is 250] [time:max is 1month]

This command determines who has broken/placed the griefed blocks in the area. If there is no information, the grief is unfortunately too old to fix.

/punish [user] 5a/grief [amount of blocks]

This command punishes the targeted user. You can determine the amount of blocks through /co lookup.

/co rollback [username] [radius:120] [time]

This command rolls back the targeted area. Try to center yourself in the middle of the grief before running the command.
